The Septic Tanks and Chambers We Install

By Dorian Rangel, Licensed OSSF Installer & Site Evaluator · South Texas Septics LLC · Serving Laredo & South Texas

The quality of a septic system starts with the components it's built from. We install proven, code-compliant equipment chosen for South Texas conditions — durable polypropylene tanks and high-capacity leaching chambers. Here's a closer look at what goes in the ground when you work with us.

The Tank: Infiltrator CM Series

The septic tank is the heart of the system — it's where wastewater separates, solids settle, and the treatment process begins. We install the Infiltrator CM-series tanks, made from heavy-duty injection-molded polypropylene. Unlike older concrete tanks, these won't crack, corrode, or deteriorate over time, and they're lighter to handle, which means a cleaner, faster install.

We work primarily with two sizes, and the right one for you depends on the size of your home and its expected daily wastewater flow:

CM-1000 (1,000 Gallon)

  • 1,000-gallon working capacity
  • Ideal for most standard homes
  • Sized for typical 1–3 bedroom dwellings
  • Durable two-compartment design
  • Corrosion-proof polypropylene

CM-1500 (1,500 Gallon)

  • 1,500-gallon working capacity
  • Best for larger homes
  • Sized for 4+ bedroom dwellings
  • More retention time, less frequent pumping
  • Future-proofs a growing household

Which size is right for you? Texas sizes systems by expected daily wastewater flow, which is tied to the number of bedrooms in the home. A smaller home is well-served by the 1,000-gallon tank, while a larger home needs the 1,500-gallon to handle the higher flow and maintain proper retention time. A larger tank also means solids accumulate more slowly, so the system goes longer between pump-outs. The site evaluation confirms exactly which your property needs.

The Drainfield: Quick5 Equalizer 36 Chambers

Once wastewater is treated in the tank, it flows out to the drainfield — and that's where the Quick5 Equalizer 36 leaching chambers come in. These are arched plastic chambers that sit in the drainfield trenches and create an open space for treated effluent to disperse into the surrounding soil.

Chamber-based drainfields have real advantages over old-fashioned gravel-and-pipe systems. They're gravelless, which means no hauling and placing tons of stone — that's faster installation and less disturbance to your property. The open-bottom arch design gives the effluent maximum contact with the soil, helping the drainfield work efficiently. And they're engineered for strength, standing up to the soil load above them.

Why We Use Them

The Quick5 Equalizer 36 is a trusted, widely-approved chamber that installs cleanly, performs reliably, and meets Texas OSSF code. The number of chambers your system needs depends on your soil type and daily flow — better soils need fewer, while heavier soils need more to provide enough absorption area.

How It All Works Together

Wastewater leaves your home and enters the CM-series tank, where solids settle and the liquid effluent separates. That effluent then flows out to the drainfield, where the Quick5 chambers disperse it into the soil for final natural treatment. A geotextile fabric over the chambers keeps soil from clogging the system, and inspection ports let the system be checked over time.

It's a simple, durable, proven setup — and it's what we trust in the ground for our customers across Webb County and South Texas.

The Bottom Line

Good components make a good system. The Infiltrator CM-series tank and Quick5 Equalizer 36 chambers are durable, code-compliant, and well-suited to our soil and climate. Whether your home needs the 1,000 or 1,500-gallon tank comes down to your site evaluation — and we'll make sure you get the right size for your property.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the CM-1000 and CM-1500 tanks?

The CM-1000 holds 1,000 gallons and suits most standard 1–3 bedroom homes. The CM-1500 holds 1,500 gallons and is best for larger 4+ bedroom homes, offering more retention time and less frequent pumping. Both are durable polypropylene tanks.

Why use plastic tanks instead of concrete?

Infiltrator CM-series polypropylene tanks won't crack, corrode, or deteriorate the way concrete can over time. They're also lighter to handle, which means a cleaner, faster installation.

What are Quick5 Equalizer 36 chambers?

They're arched, gravelless plastic leaching chambers that sit in the drainfield trenches and let treated effluent disperse into the soil. They install faster than gravel systems and give effluent excellent contact with the soil.

How many chambers will my system need?

It depends on your soil type and daily wastewater flow. Better-draining soils need fewer chambers; heavier soils need more to provide enough absorption area. The site evaluation determines the exact number.
